Dark Orb or Frost Orb scaling via loops is very efficient. Artifact is insanely powerful with Defect but you should also not be afraid to play Biased Cog if you don't have reliable Artifacts. It's just a clock really like Corruption or Wraith Form. In Hallways and Elites 5 turns of +focus is enough 90% of the time.
